(3). Every outgoing foreign war vessel which has

already obtained permission from the Headquarters of the

Kwangtung Pacification Commissioner to pass through the

channel of Bocca Tigris, should, upon arrival off Tiger

Island (

), hoist a flag calling for a pilot, who

will pilot her out of the harbour, and should notify the

Headqarters of the Commander of Bocca Tigris Forts by

hoisting the ordinary outgoing flag as well ne the ensign

indicating the name of the vessel. Upon the assent of the

Headquarters the vessel may proceed on her way, and the

pilot will leave the vessel upon her arrival at Hongkong.

(4) All foreign war vessels of more than 7-foot draught

are entirely prohibited from passing through the channel

of Bocca Tigris.

(5) With the exception of Sundays, all foreign war

vessels, both incoming and outgoing, may be piloted from

after 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. daily. Navigation shall be

entirely prohibited outside the appointed date and time.

Navigation at night between Bocca Tigris and Canton shall

not be permitted.

(6) Any foreign war vessel coming up from Hongkong

should immediately return thereto upon the discovery that

a Japanese warship is likely to take advantage of the

incoming vessel as protection in passing through Bocca

Tigris. If, however, the foreign war vessel continues her

voyage and is damaged as a result of shelling from our

forts, the Chinese Government will not be responsible.

(7) These measures are applicable to all foreign

war vessels, except Japanese warships, drawing draughts

of the prescribed depth.
